Flying a drone

Federal law

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority sets the drone rules for the whole country.

  • Fly no higher than 120 metres above the ground, and keep the drone in sight with your own eyes.
  • Stay at least 30 metres from other people, and never fly over them or over crowded places such as beaches, parks and sports grounds.
  • Fly in daylight only, and keep clear of airports and other aircraft.
